Bollywood star Aamir Khan under fire over meeting with Turkey's First Lady

Actor Aamir Khan has aroused controversy during a visit to Istanbul by meeting Turkey’s First Lady, Emine Erdogan. Aamir Khan was in Turkey to find shooting locations for his upcoming film “Laal Singh Chaddha,” a remake of classic American comedy “Forrest Gump.” 40% of the film has been shot in Indian Punjab. The Laal Singh Chaddha production team decided to film the remainder elsewhere over the COVID-19 concerns.

One of Bollywood's most beloved actors, Khan has been repeatedly accused of what attackers say is “anti-nationalism” or "anti-Indian" since November 2015, when he gave an interview that his wife Kiran Rao said she was worried about the safety of her son because of India’s atmosphere of growing intolerance.

BJP lawmaker and Singer-actor Babul Supriyo said the govt has not commented on Khan’s visit to Turkey and I do not wish to comment on the rights or wrongs of his visit.

Due to social media activity observing that Indian stars are even more in the spotlight now and therefore subject to “immense” scrutiny.
