Sushant Singh Rajput death case: Supreme Court announces that CBI will take over Sushant's death probe, asks Maharashtra Police to assist

The Supreme Court has announced that the Central Bureau of Investigation will take over the probe of Sushant Singh Rajput. Directing CBI to investigate the case, the top court asked Maharashtra Police to assist the probe agency in the matter and to hand over all the evidence collected so far in the case to CBI. Supreme Court has also pronounced that pronounced the verdict on Rhea Chakraborty's plea, the case will be transferred to Mumbai.

Following the FIR in Patna, the Bihar government had requested the Centre for a CBI probe into Sushants untimely demise. Maharashtra government had reportedly opposed the decision to involve CBI in the matter, citing that the FIR should be transferred to Mumbai police as the incident happened in their jurisdiction. "Bihar government had the right to refer the Patna FIR lodged by Rajput's father to CBI. The probe agency will be competent to probe not only Patna FIR but any other FIR related to Rajput's death case," the court ruled.

Sushant Singh Rajput father lawyer Vikas Singh said that it was a victory for the actor's family. "This is a victory for Sushant Singh Rajput's family. SC ruled on all points in our favour. The Court also clearly said that the FIR registered at Patna was correct," he said.

Sushant Singh Rajput former girlfriend Ankita Lokhande tweeted: " Justice is the truth in action."
